“Honoring yesterday’s heroes, uplifting today’s lives.”
On 26th July 2025, BHECO Homecare held its official ground-breaking ceremony in Nkondi Ward, Tharaka Nithi County, marking the beginning of a new chapter in elder care. The event began with symbolic tree planting to signify renewal, followed by a community gathering that brought together leaders, elders, health practitioners, youth, clergy, and county officials.
The theme, “Blessed Are Those Who Have Not Lost Hope,” captured the resilience of our elderly community and the shared responsibility to restore dignity and purpose.
Alongside the celebration, our medical team conducted a Rapid Impact Assessment (RIA), revealing urgent challenges:
Severe food insecurity and unsafe living conditions.
Widespread unmanaged chronic illnesses like hypertension and diabetes.
Emotional trauma from isolation and neglect.
Lack of formal social support structures for elders.
BHECO Homecare called for strategic partnerships with government and stakeholders to address these gaps, including mobile health clinics, subsidized medication, community day-care centers, and support for the construction of our elderly facility at Nthaara (land generously donated by Chairman Franklin Mwathi).
This launch was more than symbolic—it was a wake-up call to act decisively. With collaboration, we can build a compassionate, inclusive, and dignified future for the elderly who have given so much to our society.
On Mashujaa Day, BHECO Homecare honored our elderly as the true heroes whose resilience, sacrifices, and wisdom built the foundations of our communities. This was not just a celebration — it was a movement to restore dignity and remind our elders that they remain the beating heart of our society.
Through food distribution, we fought hunger and gave strength. With medical check-ups and wellness support, we safeguarded health and renewed hope. By conducting home visits to the isolated and bedridden, we broke the silence of loneliness and brought compassion to those who needed it most. And through youth engagement and intergenerational storytelling, we bridged generations, ensuring that the legacy of our elders continues to inspire tomorrow’s leaders.
The Shujaa Care Outreach was more than an event — it was a living tribute, a call to action, and a promise: that the heroes of yesterday will never be forgotten, and that caring for them is how we honor the soul of our nation.
As BHECO Homecare, we pledge to continue standing with our elders — today, tomorrow, and always. We will keep building bridges between generations, restoring dignity where it has been lost, and ensuring that every elder feels valued, remembered, and celebrated. This is not just our mission; it is our duty, and it is our joy.
This past festive season, BHECO Homecare brought joy, dignity, and hope to over 150 elderly persons across Tharaka Nithi County. What began as a simple act of compassion became a powerful reminder that no elder should be forgotten during times of celebration.
Through the distribution of food baskets, warm clothing, dignity kits, and medical support, we ensured that our elders felt cared for, valued, and included. Beyond meeting physical needs, the outreach rekindled the spirit of belonging — elders shared stories, received companionship, and experienced the warmth of community during a season often marked by isolation.
This milestone was not just about giving; it was about restoring dignity and building a legacy of compassion. It reaffirmed our commitment to long-term solutions, including the construction of the first elderly homecare center in Marimanti — a sanctuary where elders will find safety, medical care, and companionship for years to come.
The Festive Care Outreach was proof that when communities unite, lives are transformed. Together, we are building a Kenya where every elder is honored, every elder is remembered, and every elder is loved.
At the dawn of 2026, BHECO Homecare set the tone for the year with a powerful act of compassion — the distribution of 150 kilograms of rice and other foodstuffs to our elderly community in Tharaka Nithi. With the generous support and coordination of the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), this outreach became more than a food drive; it was a declaration of dignity, solidarity, and renewed purpose.
Each grain of rice carried a message: our elders are not forgotten. By nourishing their bodies, we also nourished their spirits, reminding them that they remain the pillars of our society. This initiative rekindled hope, strengthened community bonds, and reaffirmed our mission to stand
with the heroes who built the foundations we stand on today.
We extend heartfelt gratitude to the DCC and all partners who made this possible. Together, we are building a future where every elder is honored, every elder is cared for, and every elder is celebrated.
In April 2026, BHECO Homecare successfully conducted its Easter Elderly Outreach at Nthaara, Marimanti Ward in Tharaka Nithi County, delivering holistic support to vulnerable elderly individuals within the community.
The outreach brought together government representatives, healthcare providers, faith leaders, donors, and volunteers to provide essential care, medical support, and meaningful human connection. A total of 45 elderly individuals were reached, each receiving a carefully prepared package of food and basic necessities, alongside shared meals that fostered dignity and belonging.
A key component of the outreach was medical screening, where over 40 elderly participants were assessed. The exercise revealed several cases of hypertension, four critical conditions requiring urgent referral, and two cases of malnutrition, highlighting the urgent need for continued healthcare support among elderly populations in rural areas.
The programme also benefited from both financial contributions and in-kind donations, including staple food supplies, clothing, and medical support, which significantly enhanced its reach and impact.
Beyond material support, the outreach created a space for fellowship, encouragement, and emotional care, reminding the elderly that they are valued, remembered, and supported.
This activity underscores BHECO Homecare’s commitment to delivering sustainable, community-based elderly care, while reinforcing the importance of partnerships and continued investment in improving the lives of vulnerable elderly individuals.
